What do you look for in a blog?

I’ve abandoned my blog now for a couple of days because I have been experiencing an inner battle. I can’t decide if I’m participating in this blog for myself or for you. The amiguous “you,” that is, meaning whomever visits this site, intentionally or not. Is this justified pressure I feel to put on an interesting show with every little update on my not-so-showy life? Or is it not about that, even – should I be writing about generally interesting topics such as points of view on religion, politics (yawn), and other things of public interest as so many of my fellow bloggers choose to do? I think to choose one of those paths would require a measure of dedication on my part that I’m not necessarily willing to give.

So what is your favorite kind of blog to read? Political? Religious? Celebrity Gossip? Day to day happenings? I would be interested in knowing.

As for now, the only promises I can make to you about the future of my little corner of the web are these:

The things I write about might not always be universally relevant. They’ll most likely be boring at some point. And I highly guarantee that there will be an enormous portion of this blog devoted to talking about things that don’t really matter to anyone at all except for myself (i.e., I did an impersonation of Quasimodo today for my French class. Not universally relevent, possibly boring -to a boring person-, and definitely not important to anyone. Maybe not even me). But I hope that once in awhile you can look to me, here, for a laugh and a different point of view on life. And in turn, I will be looking to “you” for those very same things.
