I don’t know if you knew this already,

but I used to have a xanga. I wrote in it consistently for about three years, and have for the past year or so become less diligent about it. Upon moving to a new blog-home, I took it upon myself to look over some of my old posts, in this case from a year ago, and reminisce. I don’t have anything particular to write about today – except for the fact that I think it’s mentionable that I’m hopelessly in love. However, that is neither central to this weekend nor will it be changing anytime soon. But reading over old memories is so refreshing to me, and in this time where I have little to say, I will, instead, share some memories. These aren’t necessarily of specific events. They’re random thoughts and might appear unimportant. But they refresh me, and make me remember what a wonderful life I’ve had.

“My dogs have run. Apparently Tyler and Ryan found their way out of the backyard and have thus sent my poor little family into a flurry. They’ve been looking for them for a couple of hours now, and my heart is beginning to clench….and they said it’s raining. Sometimes rain just makes things a little bit more difficult. I know it doesn’t seem like it, but it’s a great deal more important than it seems. If you have the time to do so, please pray for my little handful of issues. I have to hold onto the hope that prayer can bring down God’s omnipotent finger to guide those little paws back home.”

“Tom always makes me think. I guess that’s why I like him so much. Tom is my preacher. He offered an excellent lesson on Wednesday which instigated a study my parents’ small group will be going through on the Apostles. He started out with Andrew. Some things I picked up from the lesson were that even though Andrew was the first apostle to be called, he is rarely among the first listed when the apostles are mentioned, and he barely squeezes himself into Jesus’ proverbial “Top Four” list. Therefore, he is often overlooked. But if you’ll look at his life, you’ll realize that most of the time when he is mentioned in the Bible, he is bringing someone to Christ. Even in his first mention, he is bringing his brother, the more famous Simon Peter. He was also the one that brought the young boy with the bread and the fish to Jesus who then helped him feed multitudes. Now, even though Andrew didn’t perform some crazy antics like slicing off an ear or blatantly questioning Jesus, you can see that what seemed to be an ordinary fisherman, when put in the hands of Jesus Christ, became something much more. I know that’s something we hear a lot, that only Jesus can convert slimy, unintelligent, earth-stained laborers into ambassadors and revolutionaries. But I guess cliche doesn’t really matter. Because sometimes I feel pretty slimy. I feel pretty unintelligent. And I certainly feel chained to the earth…”

“I almost started crying today at work.  i was shelf-reading, and i had my ipod on random when up comes Edelweiss, which takes me right back, of course, to my participation in the high school production of The Sound of Music.  And as I’m skimming over call numbers I hear the captain’s strong voice suddenly falter as he tries to hold back the emotion, and then Maria steps in and so do the kids, and before you know it, ALL OF AUSTRIA is singing with him, and oh the humanity!  I couldn’t hold back the tears!  They just don’t make movies like that anymore…”

There was the most beautiful harvest moon out tonight.  After racking my brain for awhile I found the perfect word to describe the color: it was the color of a perfect little thanksgiving yam.  I know so many people have had numerous love affairs with the stars, but personally, I don’t find the stars or anything else quite so entrancing as the moon.  It represents to me something so accessible but at the same time so unattainable.  And it makes the universe feel so much bigger….people have actually been there, ya know?  People have walked there, and more than just one person.  and it makes me think that surely if someone was smart enough to figure out how to get there, I can figure out what i want to do with my life, and surely if someone had enough courage to be the first person to fly to the moon, I can have enough courage to step out into the world and with plans to make a difference.  I wish I could find someone to paint my fingernails.”

I’ll leave you with that for now.  Sweet dreams – I love you.
